Raised by a surgeon, Steve Canter was taught the fundamental importance of doing things the right way the first time. • Grant Holmes got the highest signing bonus above the slot in the first round, because Steve understood Grant’s amazing talent and value and helped maximize it. Steve also negotiated Grant’s free agent contract with the Braves, where Grant has emerged as one of their best starting pitchers.

• JP Sears is a highly talented pitcher with the San Diego Padres. Using the salary arbitration process, Steve Canter masterfully negotiated JP’s  guaranteed 2026 contract for $2,750,000.

• Marcus Semien is one of the best players of his generation. Steve Canter successfully negotiated his first salary arbitration case in 2018, artfully using comps to help get him a fantastic raise despite Marcus spending half of his platform season on the IL.

• Asa Lacy was drafted  in the first round, and 4th overall in the 2020 MLB Draft.  Steve Canter negotiated his bonus and Asa received an over the slot bonus of $6,700,000.

• Jim “The Rookie” Morris was a 35 year old baseball player with no financial future in baseball. Steve took Jim’s inspirational story and transformed it into the legendary blockbuster Walt Disney film, “The Rookie,” the 4th highest grossing baseball film ever, and winner of the ESPY for Sports Film of the Year in 2002. “The Rookie” is a 150 million dollar property,  and is featured in a section of the Baseball Hall of Fame. Steve also set up Jim Morris’ wildly successful public speaking career.

• Charlie Barnes was blocked from an opportunity in MLB, so partnering with Charlie, Steve negotiated a series of contracts in Asia that earned Charlie 4.5 million dollars! In 2026, Steve helped Charlie successfully navigate his way back from Asia to the major leagues with the Cubs and Dodgers.

• Matt Mikulski went undrafted in his junior year from a mid-major. Matt had an amazing senior year in 2021, and Steve successfully advanced Matt’s name in the community. Matt received a $1,200,000 signing bonus and appeared on the iconic MLB Draft Show.

• Nate Robertson endured two major arm surgeries to become one of the best left handed starters in the AL. Steve Canter understood Nate’s risk of future injury, and negotiated a guaranteed deal worth $21.25 million before injuries ended Nate’s career. Nate Robertson earned an excess of $26 million dollars during his seven year career.

• Doug Davis was a super-talented left-handed pitcher in his final year of salary arbitration. Steve successfully leveraged Doug’s performance into a 3 year 22 million guaranteed contract. Doug Davis earned in excess of 35 million dollars during his 10 year major league career.

• Bryce Teodosio was a talented non drafted free agent in 2021. Steve Canter personally called 30 clubs and got Bryce a job with the Angels. Bryce has worked diligently and gone on to have a successful major league career.

• Daniel Descalso played 10 years in the majors, and earned a great raise in his first arbitration case, because of his incredible contributions to winning a 2011 world championship. Steve Canter successfully negotiated that contract by thoroughly researching the comps, and advancing the winning argument.  Steve also negotiated all of Daniel’s free agent contracts, including 3 multi-year contracts. Daniel earned in excess of 15 million dollars.

• Lou Trivino is a successful major league pitcher with 8 plus years in the majors, and is also a world champion. Steve Canter masterfully negotiated 3 salary arbitration cases for Lou, as well as his free agent contracts. Steve Canter has negotiated contracts in excess of 15 million dollars for Lou.

• Bryse Wilson is a talented major league pitcher with 5 plus years of major league service, and is also a world champion.  Steve Canter negotiated his original signing bonus of $1,200,000, well above the slot of $548,000. Steve also masterfully negotiated his salary arbitration cases and his free agent contracts. Bryse has earned in excess of 7 million dollars.

• Dylan Floro was a World Champion with the Dodgers, and he played more than 7 years in the majors. Steve masterfully negotiated large raises in 3 arbitration cases for Dylan, and also negotiated his 2024 free agent contract with the Nationals. Dylan’s lifetime career earnings exceed 15 million dollars.

• Ashe Russell was a talented pitcher from Indianapolis in 2016. Steve helped Ashe navigate some marketing issues with the MLB draft, and Ashe appeared on the MLB Draft Show, because of his supreme talent and winning personality. Ashe was drafted in the first round and received a 2 million dollar signing bonus.  This marked the 2nd consecutive year where ProEdge had a player on the legendary MLB Draft show.

• Tom “The Bartender” Wilhelmsen was a super talented right handed pitcher who retired from baseball for 5 years, and became a bartender. Tom wanted to make a comeback and called Steve, who got Tom signed with the Seattle Mariners. Tom later became the Mariners’ closer and also contributed to a no-hitter in 2012.

• JD Martin was a super talented RHP drafted in the first round by Cleveland in 2001. Steve negotiated all of JD’s contracts throughout his 20 year career, including his signing bonus, multiple free agent contracts, as well as his contract with Samsung in 2014, when JD won the KBO championship.

• Evan Sisk is a talented left-handed major league pitcher. Steve has helped Evan navigate several trades and was there for his big league call up against the Yankees, when Evan struck out the side.
